excellant book for serious shop work

I purchased the book on the recommendation of a friend who told me that the book would walk me through the math that I needed to update my home for some renovations and heating projects.
Those projects were a wood burning stove, and solar heating. I found the author to supply the necessary understanding to make some serious decisions that provided me with financial returns.
This book is provides tables and references for further study and is an excellant book for your library. This is one of the few times I will put my name on a book as a must have.

The tittle does not tell you what it is inside. This is an excelent summary of tips to build and meassure different things. It is like a handbook of whatever you may need and you don't know where to find the answers. There is very little information about woodworking math, but extensive information about several other subjects.

Only of Historical Interest

Potential readers should be aware that this book is unlike any of the novels for which Lloyd Douglas is famous. It was published more than twenty years before his bestsellers, when he was newly graduated from Wittenberg College's divinity school. It is of historic interest because it was written just before he committed his life to an updating of the faith, to meet the demands of the modern age. There is nothing modern in this book, and there is very little in it that is even of earthly interest. The hero of the story is an angel, and much of the action occurs in the heavens. All the dialogue is in Elizabethan English.

Nevertheless, there is something wondrous about Douglas's narrative voice in this book. It has a strange cadence, like poetry. The landscape of the story is also more grand and sweeping than in any of his later novels, since it takes us beyond the material world. And it is fascinating to read his account of what happens to the devil and his army of mutinous angels - this from an author who, later on, was quite passionate about denying the existence of a devil. If you think you know Lloyd Douglas, this slender book is full of surprises.

It is a difficult book to read, however, and most readers would be best advised to avoid it. But for those who respect the mind of Lloyd Douglas and want to trace his evolution as a religious thinker and as a popular writer, it may be well worth the effort.

The best of the Smith Wigglesworth books

This is not only the best book I've read about Smith Wigglesworth--in that it benefited me spiritually--but I actually found it more beneficial than reading Wigglesworth's own books. I found the story of his life to be more instructive (for me) than reading what he had to say. Perhaps what he had to say is too far above me for me to really understand thoroughly. I'm not talking about intellectually, of course, but spiritually.
I've read his "collected teachings" and will read again, but I know I am missing much of what he is saying. His life, however, taught me so much, and I think the author portrayed it beautifully in letting it speak for itself, yet adding just enough interpretation to make it more meaningful to the reader.
Something that bothered me at first was Smith saying that the Lord said He was going to "burn up" every bit of Smith Wigglesworth until only Jesus was left. I know the Lord values our individuality. He created us to be individuals, and I believe the closer we come to Him, the more our individuality shows. And certainly Smith had a very distinctive personality, as was pointed out in this book. I realized later that the part of me that God wants to "burn up" is the part that is not good, the part that is blocking the true individual personality from full expression. The more yielded I am to Jesus, the more distinctively MYSELF I am. That is why Smith Wigglesworth was such a strongly individualistic person--he let the Lord get rid of a lot of the stuff that was clouding his true self.
I know that Smith sometimes used what I am sure were inappropriate ways to release his faith for people's healing, but he knew when he was truly operating in faith and therefore had no failures. Oh, to know that kind of faith! His example is to live with a continuous awareness of the God's presence.

Great to create a intimacy with God.

I consider this book as a revelation of a great men of God who walked with God, and how we can live at this same level of Intimacy with God in our daily life, I love his great hunger and thirst for more abundance and a depth relationship with the Spirit of God.

Love the book.

I recommend it.
