Five years ago, a terrible betrayal tore Roman and Savannah apart. Roman’s burgeoning interest in the world of BDSM and his desire to master Savannah led them deep into the heart of sexual fetish. A weekend at the house of a high-powered Dom was supposed to be the next step in the exploration of their Dominant/submissive relationship, but when their host convinces Roman to turn Savannah over to him for training, their love is stretched beyond the breaking point.
Savannah—believing Roman has given her away forever—flees, but not before suffering at the hands of the sadistic Dom. Roman knows nothing of what she’s endured, believing Savannah left him because of his desires.
When they meet again five years later, they must decide whether lies will continue to keep them apart, or if what they had is enough to rekindle a once-in-a-lifetime love.
Inside Scoop: This story contains descriptions of nonconsensual sexual acts, hard-core BDSM play and graphic violence.

On The Fence About This One
By Readergirl
I'd like to say I liked this book, but the truth is I'm just not sure I did. At the beginning we meet both characters, but things kind of jump between past and present at first which was a tad confusing for a minute...then things are firmly in the past and we get the whole back story. I loved seeing this happy couple in the back story...but then had to go...WTF???
***There are definitely spoilers if you continue...so be warned*****
In the back story we see that Savannah communicates to Roman that she finds this Dom guy creepy...yet Roman turns her over to him without watching what's going on and then believes she wants to stay with him? I found this whole part of the story totally sucking. The hero comes off as quite loving...and then totally weak. I hate the hero here and frankly...when we move to present day, couldn't believe that all was forgiven so easily from a misunderstanding. Um...he was instrumental in your rape/torture and because he didn't communicate, tricked you, and then believed this other guys lies and left you to it...all is forgiven because he misunderstood?
I found it a little too hard to forgive the hero and that means that I found the last fourth of the story...when they are supposedly making up...a little too unbelievable. 1st off...I was sad because it was obvious this couple could never be the same after that incident...and I really liked them before. 2nd...it was just too soon to be great. Wrapped up a little too neatly. 3/4's of the book was either serious emotional pain or showcasing the lifestyle itself. I just didn't feel either character was really anything more than their pain. The pain seemed to be the defining characteristics of both and we never really saw beyond that to any other side. A few words and this woman is healed and ready to give things a try? I found that a little too good to be true. The writer made such a point that the woman had been broken...I'd like to have been able to read that the hero was able to put her back together....so to speak...and I never really saw that.
I guess that we see in vivid detail what breaks them up and the pain...but I didn't feel the writer really spent the time (or words) to give us the same amount of time to put them back together. The book came off as sad and painful. While I'm glad that the characters got back together, it was obvious that it wouldn't be like it was before (and wouldn't be better) and that means that for me it just wasn't a happy ending. Perhaps if it would have been longer and the same amount of time would have been spent healing as it had been on hurting then the story would have resolved better for me. As it stands, it didn't seem romantic and didn't have a HEA feel...even if technically I guess it was.
If you want a book that delves into the lifestyle and is emotionally charged, you may want to read it. If you want a book that is romantic where we see love overcome the obstacles and the characters are better off in the end, you might want to give this one a miss.

Betrayal and Salvation
By Dana19018
Roman and Savannah had it all. Kink blossomed in their life, bringing them closer together than ever before. When a sadistic madman intrudes into their bliss, can they ever recover what was lost?
Betrayal haunts Savannah as she gives every ounce of feeling to her art. When that isn't enough, she pours her rage into her role as Dominatrix at a local club. Playing the Lace Dominatrix, she can turn pain into pleasure and back again. When her old lover Roman falls back into her life, her routine is shattered and she has to face demons that she has been trying to slay for years.
Roman loved Savannah with all his heart. She was his sub and his lover. Being her Master was what made life worth living. When he brings her to a weekend retreat and hands her over to a more experienced Master at his urging, he will lose her. Just not for the reasons he thinks.
Present and past collide as Roman picks art for his new building and the artist is his Savannah. Slowly, he learns the truth about what she has become and what happened in the past to lead her in the direction her life has taken. Could his sub be the Lace Dominatrix? How? What fuels the rage behind the beautiful and trusting eyes he once knew?
Lila Dubois has been one of my favorite BDSM authors for years now. Her Undone series curled my toes and so did this book. Here, you see what an unscrupulous Master can do to a sub. Trust is paramount and when two people very much in love trust a high powered Dom for Savannah's training, they booth lose big time. D/s is not the same thing as abuse and this wonderful author shows how a loving Dom/Domme can take away the pain by measured steps in control and caring. I loved this book for the depth of emotion and intrigue. Art, emotion, bondage and discipline: a wonderful combination for a story that gripped me from beginning to end. The spicy sex scenes were smoking hot!

"There needed to be more on that than the simple love will conquer all ending."
By Amazon Customer
Savannah and Roman shared a past relationship five years before. However, after experiencing more than just a bit of "play", they split up. There was a horrible betrayal that left more than physical scars on Savannah, and now she has crossed paths with Roman, her betrayer. Can Savannah and Roman work through the past to find their HEA, or will Savannah continue to find her own means of dealing with that experience?
Betrayed by Love was a dark book that needed a bit more fleshing out for me. I still can NOT get past that form of betrayal. It would seem that Roman should not have trusted a stranger with Savannah in a relationship that has trust as the very foundation. At the core of Roman's betrayal, for me, seemed to be the fact that what he did was a selfish act cloaked in unselfishness. However, he wanted more than just a bit of bedroom play, he seemed to want a lifestyle of BDSM and didn't tell Savannah that either. He seemed too trusting of the guy who broke Savannah and all too willing to hand her over to him in that situation in Betrayed by Love.
I could understand the duplicity involved in Betrayed by Love, but the ramifications that she now deals with daily....will she ever heal? There needed to be more on that than the simple love will conquer all ending. At times, I felt that his betrayal was treated more like being impolite than what it truly was. Betrayed by Love just didn't work for me.
